Scotland Police Given Access to Blue Badge Database

Police in Scotland have been given direct access to the Local Authorities blue badge database, allowing them to immediately identify people who are misusing parking permits. Police said the move would allow better enforcement and support councils in identifying misuse Blue Badge misuse and fraud.
Scotland’s Minister for Transport Derek Mackay said: “This is a fantastic tool that will help local authorities in their bid to tackle abuse of the blue badge scheme. Misuse of the scheme can have a significant impact on the lives of badge holders throughout Scotland that is why I am pleased Police Scotland is working collaboratively with local authorities to send a clear message that abuse of the schme will not be tolerated.”
